Description:
Unexpended rifle cartridges x 3, attached to clip/charger (A303, F528) - Mauser cartridges. Pointed-tip bullets with heavy ferrous corrosion, still attached to their cartridges. The cartridges have pale-green oxidation. The overall length of the bullet and cartridges are 7.5cm, and the bullets are 1.0cm diameter. The charger is broken in two pieces, 1.8cm and 2.4cm long, and is 1.7cm wide x 0.4cm thick with ferrous corrosion. Found on the side of a Turkish front line trench at The Nek. Bullets 1 and 2 attached to charger: Bullet 1: overall length 7.2cm; bullet is 2.25cm long x 0.9cm diameter at base, 0.8cm diameter near tip; cartridge case 5.25cm long x 1.2cm diameter at base, 0.9cm diameter at top. Bullet 2: overall length 7.33cm; bullet us 2.18cm long x 0.9cm diameter at base, 0.55cm diameter at top; cartridge case 5.15cm long x 1.2cm diameter at base, 1.88cm diameter at top. Charger clip attached to bullets 1 and 2: metal is 0.15cm thick x 1.6cm wide x 3.8cm long x 0.55cm thick at the side, and 0.5cm thick in the centre. Bullet 3: overall length 7.6cm; bullet 2.2cm long x 0.9cm diameter at base, 0.45cm diameter at base; cartrideg case 5.4cm long x 1.2cm diameter at base, 0.88cm diameter at top. Charger clip attached to bullet 3: 0.4cm thick in the centre; 0.47cm high at the side, 2.4cm long, 0.1cm metal thickness.
